This page is your link to the Vietnam era. You'll find three links to the "Wall Information" and photos I and others have taken during their tours in Vietnam. As a Vietnam Vet, I wanted to remember our buddies. It is also important to let others that weren't there see through our photos our living conditions, the savagery and some of the intense moments. My intent is to show what being there was about. Some photos are sure to bring back memories for us. If you are concerned that these photos will bring back too many bad memories, you should probably skip the photos.

My tour in Vietnam was between December of 1966 and December of 1967. My unit was the 125th Signal Battalion, 25th Infantry Division in Cu Chi. Cu Chi was about 25 miles North West of Saigon near the Iron Triangle. There are links at the bottom of each page.

The first 20 photos were taken at the Cu Chi base camp. There was a Signal school there for the 25th Inf. Div. You'll see some of the guys that worked there and the COMSEC DISTRA near the Division HQ. A few of the shots look over the top of the base camp toward the air field. I haven't obviously labeled the photos but if you will move your mouse over the photo I've added a caption. Click here to see them. I'm not in any of these pictures.

The second set of 20 photos were also taken at the Cu Chi base camp. In these you'll find the Main PX, the base camp laundry, a quad .50 cal., a few shots of me and more. I just added another 10 photos that include the "Bird Dog" and other photos. Click here to see this set of 30 slides. I'll be scanning another 200 plus slides in the next few weeks or so. I'll also be adding narrative to the slides. Check back in a while for the new photos.

I've added this new section called "Boondock Bards". These are poems from the Pacific Stars and Stripes readers that served in 1967 while I was in Vietnam. I've extracted them from old clippings I kept from my tour. If the author and unit were included I have added their name to the poem.

I also discovered 13 issues of the 25th Infantry Division "Tropic Lightning" newsletters written during my tour. I hope to add some of their content to the site as well in future weeks. When I do, they will be linked from here.
