JUL 4 - Candler, NC - BLUE STAR MOTHERS MOTORCYCLE RALLY - Event starts at 10:30 a.m. Supporting the WNC Blue Star Mothers. Sending Care packages to deployed troops. A patriot, one day motorcycle event at TA in Candler (exit 37 off I-40) to raise money for sending “a touch of America” to our troops. Bands, vendors, bike games, a bike show with trophies (including one for most patriot!). A mail station so attendees can write letters to soldiers who otherwise wouldn’t receive mail. A flag raising, missing man ceremony, an introduction to the WNC Blue Star Mothers and an invocation by Graham Dienert, Reverend Billy Graham’s Grandson will start the event. Patriot’s Path; a guided motorcycle ride with a stop at The Veterans Quarters (local Veteran’s Shelter). The party ends up back at TA with another band, trophies awarded, door prizes given out and drink and dinner specials. JUL 18 - Charlotte, Jacksonville, Fayetteville, NC - THE HEROS RIDE - The ride will end at the Greensboro Coliseum. To raise money for Head Injured Soldiers in NC. The "Official" Escorted rides will begin at Ft Bragg and Camp Lujeune and the USNG center in Charlotte. Club rides can be from anywhere and then arriving at the Coliseum in Greensboro. There will be vendor space inside and out, a variety of judged bike events, music, and some giveaways etc. Command staff at the bases are supporting this and offering to help from their end. Money raised will be split between real life needs and rehab through two 501c groups that have a good record of doing this. We are planning on 4000 or so bikes. These men and women paid the ultimate sacrifice, fulfilling their oath to protect and serve. The Morehead City Blue Knights have organized a ride in their memory. Proceeds from this event will be used for the Blue Knight scholarship fund for the Criminal Justice Program at Carteret Community College. The route will start and finish at Carteret Community College.
