WAR

Extracted from the Pacific Stars and Stripes Jan 30th 1967 issue.

War is dirty and war is grim,
Full of turmoils and full of sin,
There's fighting around the world today,
So that we may have peace again someday.
A three letter word that seems so small,
Yet means so much and stands so tall.
An armed conflict it's so defined,
A conflict twixt nations is so blind.
Communism is the reason why,
We must stop them here, today, right now.
For the next time it happens it just might be,
In our own hometowns of our own country.
It would be sad to see the streets back home,
As we see them here, full of fright and gloom.
People wondering just where to go,
When the enemy strikes their next blow.
This won't happen at home, of that I am sure,
For our nation is big, she's strong, and she's pure.
She's kept us protected from wars in the past,
While we protect her so that she may last.
